Qingling Motors Co., Ltd. was established in 1985 as a joint venture between Isuzu Motors Limited and Chongqing Automobile Factory. It is a Chinese state-owned enterprise headquartered in Chongqing, China, and is the first joint venture for commercial vehicles in the country. Qingling manufactures and sells ISUZU-branded commercial trucks in China (with exported products branded as Qingling). The company has a complete automotive industrial chain, including twelve R&D and production divisions such as ISUZU engine manufacturing, ISUZU transmission manufacturing, ISUZU axle manufacturing, and body and spare parts manufacturing. Qingling operates independently of other brands for major components and maintains a robust aftermarket service system, ensuring peace of mind for its customers. Over the past 40 years, Qingling has earned the trust of Chinese consumers through the excellent performance of its products.
Qingling has fully adopted Isuzu’s quality management system, and its products are renowned for their reliability. All vehicle models have undergone comprehensive testing exceeding 4 million kilometers, covering extreme cold, heat, high-altitude (low-oxygen), high corrosion, heavy rainfall, and prolonged operation conditions. These vehicles have received high evaluations at Isuzu’s Hokkaido Proving Ground and are widely known as “unbreakable trucks.” In China, time-sensitive logistics companies such as China Post, China Tobacco, SF Express, and JD Logistics extensively use ISUZU-branded logistics trucks produced by Qingling. Additionally, Qingling chassis are commonly used in municipal special-purpose vehicles, including sanitation trucks, emergency rescue vehicles, and fire trucks.
In recent years, with the surge in Chinese commercial vehicle exports, Qingling (bearing the ISUZU logo) has been increasingly adopted by Chinese special-purpose vehicle manufacturers for global export, thanks to its outstanding performance under various fuel qualities and operating conditions, as well as its extremely low after-sales service and maintenance costs.
China’s government has recently encouraged automotive manufacturers to “go global” by establishing KD (Knock Down) assembly plants overseas, providing complete automotive industrial solutions to countries lacking such industries. As a state-owned enterprise, Qingling actively responds to this policy and has successfully established KD plants in Vietnam, the Philippines, Iran, and Algeria. These projects have created significant employment opportunities and trained technical personnel locally, receiving widespread recognition.
Senegal holds a strategically vital position in West Africa and has been identified as the key region for Qingling’s West African KD factory project. In June 2025, the planning proposal for the Senegal KD factory was approved by the Party Committee of the company. By July 2025, Qingling had officially registered a subsidiary in Senegal to carry out comprehensive product market validation.
Qingling Motors Senegal Branch, acting as the company’s official representative in Senegal, holds exclusive rights to operate Qingling’s full range of commercial and special-purpose vehicles in the country and serves as the sole executor of the KD factory project. Its mission is to provide professional and reliable commercial vehicles and services to the Senegalese market. Based on the trusted quality of Qingling products, the Senegal Branch plans to establish a professional after-sales service network by the end of 2025, complete a comprehensive spare parts warehouse by 2026, and launch KD assembly operations after successful market validation, aiming for an annual production capacity of 1,000 trucks by the end of 2030.
Given the outstanding reliability of Qingling’s vehicles, its truck series will actively contribute to Senegal’s economic development and deepen the cooperation between China and Senegal.
